In December 2016, MacroAsia Properties Development Corporation (MAPDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MacroAsia Corporation, purchased 67% shares of stock held by the former individual shareholders of Boracay Tubi System, Inc. (BTSI). BTSI is one of the two water utility providers in Boracay Island. BTSI was established and operated in 1998, as lone water utility provider until the entry of a new water utility provider in 2010.


BTSI holds two (2) water rights and has Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) from the National Water Resources Board (NWRB). BTSI is currently serving about 25% of the water demand in the island of Boracay. BTSI also owns 80% ownership in Monad Water Sewerage Systems, Inc. (MONAD), a water and wastewater service provider in Yapak, Malay, Aklan.


BTSI also has 100% ownership in New Earth Water Systems, Inc. (NEWS), a company that owns water rights in Visayas and Mindanao. Through BTSI, MacroAsia is able to establish its water business in central and southern Philippine market.


BTSI is undertaking a massive expansion of the capacity of its existing water treatment plant in Boracay Island. From its current capacity of 10 Million Liters per Day (MLD), it is being expanded to 25MLD up to a seven-year period. The first step is to replace the current water treatment plant with a new one, for commissioning by first quarter of 2018. Along with volume capacity, its existing Sewerage Treatment Plant will also be expanded, as BTSI will undertake septage management initiatives to process wastewater from its clients as part of its mandate of making the water resources within the island clean. All these investments for the expansion projects of BTSI are all designed to provide the world-class island destination of Boracay with equally world-class water treatment facilities to attract more clients, reduce non-revenue water and obtain better operational efficiencies.
